KHS accurately documents and showcases the stories of Kuranda's varied inhabitants, from Indigenous Rainforest people to modern-day tourists, honoring the past and present cultural tapestry of our region.


 

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land and respectfully include their history in their work .

Digital Archives

The Kuranda Historical Society is a community organization working to preserve and share the history of the Kuranda district in North Queensland, Australia . 


Our efforts include identifying, preserving, and digitizing material culture and history related to the region .  The Kuranda Historical society aims to tell the stories of Kuranda's diverse inhabitants, from its Indigenous Rainforest people to early European settlers, timber workers, railway builders, hippies, artists, and tourists.
